Western Sydney University Research Scholarships in Australia (Fully Funded)

Applications are now open for the Western Sydney University Research Scholarships 2026 in Australia for students who want to pursue a doctoral degree. Western Sydney University is offering this fully funded scholarship for both domestic and international students under the Quarter 3 (Q3) 2026 intake.

Successful applicants will receive an annual stipend of AUD $35,188 for up to three years along with full tuition fee coverage through Australia’s Research Training Program (RTP). Applications are open until 30 April 2026, and selected students must begin their studies on 22 June 2026. There is currently no application fee.

Eligibility Criteria:

  • OR must have started a doctoral program in 2026

  • Have completed a Master of Philosophy (MPhil) or Master of Research (MRes) degree at Western Sydney University in 2025 or 2026
  • Be able to study full-time
  • Be able to stay in Australia when the scholarship begins

All scholarship recipients must:

  • Be available for full-time study
  • Be onshore in Australia at the scholarship commencement date

Important Conditions:

  • You must submit all required documents before the deadline
  • Incomplete applications may be rejected
  • You can apply for only one HDR scholarship at a time
  • You cannot apply for both research release and project scholarships at the same time
  • Students can work while receiving the scholarship if work does not affect studies
  • Students must spend at least 35 hours per week on research
  • Students cannot study from outside Australia unless approved for research-related travel
