INTRODUCTION
Claude Corps Fellowship 2026, a fully funded, one-year paid fellowship launched by Anthropic , the company behind the AI assistant Claude. This program is not a scholarship in the traditional academic sense. It is a paid work placement that puts early-career people inside real nonprofit organizations across the United States, where they use AI tools to help those organizations do more good in the world.
There is no application fee. Fellows receive a full annual salary of $85,000, along with health insurance, retirement benefits, paid time off, and up to $2,500 in Claude API credits. This is completely funded by Anthropic, which has committed an initial $150 million to the program.
The fellowship is open to anyone 18 years or older with less than two years of full-time work experience , no college degree required, no coding background required. If you live in the United States or are authorized to work there, and you already use AI tools in your daily life, you can apply.
The first cohort deadline is July 17, 2026, with the program starting on October 19, 2026. Two more cohorts will begin in January 2027 and August 2027, so even if you miss the first deadline, rolling applications remain open. Fellows will be placed at nonprofits working in areas like food security, veteran services, environmental conservation, education, public health, and more all across the country.
This is one of the most accessible, well-compensated early-career opportunities available right now, and it is specifically designed for people who are not yet deep into their careers but are ready to make a real impact using AI.

- Membership in a national cohort of fellows going through the same experience
- A professional reference from CodePath upon completion
Relocation and Logistics:
- Relocation funding if your placement is outside your current city or region
- Travel and accommodation covered for the base camp orientation week in San Francisco
Career Launchpad:
- One full year of hands-on experience deploying AI inside a real organization
- At least one complete project that you owned and shipped, ready for your portfolio
- A professional network built through your host organization, your cohort, and the broader Claude Corps community
Eligibility Criteria:
Claude Corps has deliberately kept its eligibility criteria simple and inclusive. Here is who can apply:
- You are 18 years of age or older
- You have less than two years of full-time work experience (part-time, volunteer, and internship work does not count toward this limit)
- You are authorized to work in the United States — this means US citizens, green card holders, and certain visa holders are eligible; however, visa statuses that require employer sponsorship such as H-1B, TN, or F-1 OPT and STEM OPT do not qualify
- You already use AI tools regularly — you do not need formal training, but you should be comfortable using Claude or a similar AI assistant to research, draft, summarize, or solve problems in your daily life
- You are willing to relocate if your matched organization is in a different city or state (relocation costs are covered by the program)
- You have shown genuine care about a cause, community, or social issue — this does not need to be formal or grand; it just needs to be real
What is NOT required:
- A college or university degree
- A background in computer science or coding
- Prior nonprofit or social sector experience
- Formal AI certifications or coursework
Current students can apply as long as they are available to work full-time starting October 19, 2026.

Who Runs Claude Corps and How It Works:
Claude Corps is not run by a single organization , it is a three-way partnership designed to bring together funding, employment, and accountability in a way that protects fellows and delivers real results to nonprofits.
Anthropic provides all the funding, shapes the overall strategy of the program, and supplies AI expertise including access to Claude, training materials, and technical support for fellows.
CodePath is the official employer of all fellows. They handle payroll, W-2 tax documents, HR, health benefits, and all employment matters. CodePath is already America’s largest provider of collegiate computer science education for underserved students, so they bring significant experience in training and supporting early-career talent.
Social Finance, a nonprofit and registered investment advisor, manages the philanthropic capital and leads measurement and evaluation , tracking whether nonprofits actually advance their missions and whether fellows actually build careers from this experience.
This structure means that as a fellow, you have real employment protections. CodePath is your employer. If something goes wrong at your placement, you have a CodePath program contact who has the final say on employment matters , not the nonprofit.
How to Apply:
The process has multiple stages, but it is clearly communicated at each step. Here is how it works:
Step 1 — Submit your application
Go to the Claude Corps website and fill out the application form. It includes background questions, two short-answer questions (one about a time you made an impact in your community, and one about learning from a mistake), and demographic information that is voluntary.
Step 2 — Complete two AI training modules
As part of your application, you will complete two short online courses: AI Fluency and Claude 101, hosted on Skilljar. These are free, do not take long, and actually prepare you for the fellowship itself. They also show the selection team how you prompt AI, evaluate its responses, and adjust when something does not work.
Step 3 — Take-home assessment
If your application moves forward, you will receive a skills-based take-home assessment.
Step 4 — Interview with the team
A 25-minute conversation with Anthropic and CodePath staff.
Step 5 — Final round interviews
Two more interviews before a final decision is made.
Step 6 — Host organization matching
Selected fellows interview with two to three potential host organizations. Both fellows and host organizations rank their preferences, and matching accounts for project fit, geography, and mutual interest. You have a real voice in where you end up.
Deadlines:
- Cohort 1: July 17, 2026 (starts October 19, 2026)

What the First Week Looks Like:
Every Cohort 1 fellow starts with a mandatory base camp week in San Francisco, beginning October 19, 2026. Travel and accommodation are fully covered. During this week, fellows go through intensive Claude training, learn how to work effectively with nonprofit teams, and build connections with their full cohort. After base camp, fellows travel to their host organization’s location and begin their year.
After the Fellowship Ends:
Claude Corps is designed as a career on-ramp, not a permanent placement. When the year ends, you leave with:
- One full year of applied AI experience at a real organization
- At least one project you owned, built, and shipped
- A CodePath reference and professional relationship
- A national network of fellow alumni
- A skill set , AI fluency in an organizational context , that most people your age simply do not have
The fellowship does not automatically convert to a CodePath full-time role, but you are welcome to apply to any open positions through the normal process. Most fellows will go on to roles in nonprofits, government agencies, or private companies, or use the year as a foundation to start their own ventures or continue their education.
Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ):
Is Claude Corps a scholarship or a job?
It is a paid fellowship — essentially a full-time job with a $85,000 annual salary. It is not a traditional academic scholarship, but it is fully funded and covers everything from salary to relocation.
Do I need a degree to apply for Claude Corps?
No. There is no education requirement whatsoever. Claude Corps is explicitly open to people who did not go to college or who took alternative education routes.
Can international students apply for Claude Corps?
Only if you are already authorized to work in the United States without employer sponsorship. F-1 OPT, STEM OPT, H-1B, and TN visa holders do not qualify.
Is Claude Corps only for people who know how to code?
No. You do not need any coding experience. You just need to already be using AI tools like Claude in your everyday life.
What is the Claude Corps salary?
Fellows earn $85,000 per year, paid twice a month, as full-time CodePath employees.
Is Claude Corps only in certain cities?
No. Host organizations are placed all across the United States. Fellows may need to relocate, and the program covers relocation costs.
When is the Claude Corps application deadline?
July 17, 2026 for the first cohort. Applications remain open on a rolling basis for cohorts starting in January 2027 and August 2027.
Is there an application fee for Claude Corps?
No. The application is completely free.
How competitive is Claude Corps?

Can I apply to Claude Corps if I already have a job?
Yes, as long as you have under two years of full-time work experience in total, and you are available to work full-time starting October 2026.
