Applications are now open for the UBC Public Scholars Initiative (PSI) Fellowship 2026-2027. This prestigious fellowship supports doctoral students at the University of British Columbia who want to make their research useful to society and connect their work with real-world impact.
The program offers up to $10,000 in funding for innovative projects that go beyond traditional academic research. It is partially funded and open to both Canadian and international students. There is no application fee.

Eligibility Criteria:
- Must be a doctoral student at UBC Vancouver or UBC Okanagan
- Must be in Years 1 to 5 of their doctoral program (maximum 48 months of study as of 31 August 2026)
- Must be registered in a UBC doctoral program as of 1 September 2026
- 6th-year students may apply only in exceptional cases (must get prior approval)
- Open to students from all academic disciplines

How to Apply:
- Download the PSI Fellowship Application Form 2026-2027 and Instructions from the official PSI website.
- Complete the form and prepare your CV (Tri-agency CV or previous Vanier-Banting CV).
- Combine the application form and CV into one PDF file.
- Submit the PDF through the Qualtrics link on the PSI website.
- Ask your supervisor to submit a Letter of Support (mandatory). You may also include an optional letter from an external collaborator.
Important: Each of the two main sections in the application has a limit of 4000 characters (with spaces).
