Applications are now open for the Wang Gungwu Visiting Fellows Programme 2027 at ISEAS – Yusof Ishak Institute in Singapore.
This prestigious fellowship honours Professor Wang Gungwu and offers post-doctoral researchers and mid-career policy makers the opportunity to conduct policy-relevant research on big-power relations and their impact on Southeast Asia.
The programme provides full financial support including a monthly stipend and round-trip airfare. It is free to apply with no application fee. Fellowships last between 2 to 6 months in residence at ISEAS.

Eligibility Criteria:
- Open to post-doctoral researchers and mid-career policy makers
- Mid-career policy makers without a PhD are also welcome if they have strong professional experience and research interest
- Must be able to stay in residence at ISEAS in Singapore for the full duration of the fellowship
- Research interest must align with the programme’s priority areas
- Good command of English is expected
Research Priority Areas:
- Developments in US-China relations and their impact on Southeast Asia
- Asia Pacific security issues (e.g. South China Sea, China-ASEAN relations)
- Rise of China and its impact on Southeast Asian communities
- Use of digital media and technology to influence perceptions in Southeast Asia
- Progress and prospects of global and regional economic cooperation initiatives (e.g. Belt and Road Initiative and RCEP)
