Applications are now open for the prestigious Schuman Traineeships at the European Parliament. This fully funded 5-month programme offers young graduates a unique opportunity to gain professional experience in the heart of EU decision-making.
Trainees work in Brussels, Luxembourg, Strasbourg, or in European Parliament Liaison Offices across EU countries. The programme is open twice a year with two main intakes.
There is no application fee. The traineeship is fully funded with a monthly grant, travel allowance, and additional support for persons with disabilities.
Key Details:
- Degree Level: University degree (Bachelor’s or equivalent – EQF Level 6) or vocational qualification (limited positions)
- Host Country: Belgium, Luxembourg, France, and other EU Member States
- Duration: 5 months (full-time)
- Monthly Grant: €1,889 (Brussels/Luxembourg base in 2026) – adjusted according to location
- Application Fee: None
- Open for: EU citizens and citizens of accession/candidate countries (very limited spots for others)
- Start Dates: 1 March or 1 October (can be adjusted by one month)

Eligibility Criteria:
- Be at least 18 years old (no upper age limit)
- Hold a university degree (EQF Level 6) or a vocational education qualification (limited spots)
- Have thorough knowledge of one official EU language and very good knowledge of a second
- Provide a recent criminal record extract
- Not have worked or done a traineeship for more than 2 months in any EU institution
- Be a citizen of an EU Member State or accession/candidate country (limited exceptions for others)

How to Apply:
- Go to the official Schuman Traineeship application portal during the open period.
- Create an account and submit a maximum of 3 applications.
- Write your CV (preferably in English or French) and a motivation letter for each position.
- If shortlisted, submit supporting documents (diploma, ID/passport, criminal record).
- Successful candidates receive an official Admission Letter by email.
Important: Spontaneous applications are not accepted. Always apply only during the official periods.
